The Orangutan Conservancy is excited to announce our new Kids’ Orangutan Adoption package just in time for the giving season! This brand new adoption package is geared towards the younger generation of conservationists that want to help support and protect wild orangutans in Indonesia.
The proceeds from this symbolic adoption go directly to the Orangutan Kutai Project, which works within the Kutai National Park to study, monitor, and protect the wild East Bornean orangutans (Pongo pygmaeus morio) in their natural habitat. The park spans over 200,000 hectares (2,000 km) and has a wild orangutan population of approximately 2000 orangutans. The Orangutan Kutai Project was launched in 2009 as a long-term science-for-conservation project on the orangutans that reside within the Kutai National Park that aims to improve the knowledge of morio orangutans and enhance the conservation efforts in and around the park.
The current orangutan available for symbolic adoption through this new kids’ program is the young orangutan, Pan (Bornean orangutan) who currently resides in Kutai National Park, which is located on the east coast of Borneo Island, in the East Kalimantan province of Indonesia.
The Kids’ symbolic adoption packet costs $50 USD and includes:
- Physical Adoption Certificate & Photo
- Orangutan Story
- OC Logo Vinyl Sticker
- Digital Photos & Goodies
