The Orangutan Project and the Orangutan Republik Foundation present Finding Our Humanity, a Fundraising Gala Event and Pongo Environmental Awards. Join these two spectacular organizations as they submerge you into the unforgettable environment of the “last intact tropical rainforest.” Then meet those that have dedicated their life’s work to protecting the critically endangered orangutan.
The key-note address will be by world-renowned orangutan expert and founder of The Orangutan Project, Leif Cocks, who will share his unique perspective on what the great apes, our tribal past, and a more philosophical approach to life can teach us about our humanity. Leif will also sign personal copies of his just-launched book on this topic, “Finding Our Humanity”.

The 6th annual Pongo Environmental Awards are being present by Ed Begley, Jr. and Dr. Gary Shapiro (Co-Founder & President of Orang Utan Republik Foundation). Recipients include Netflix and its respective producers of “Our Planet,” the Leonardo Dicaprio Foundation and its Executive Director, Justin Winters, Tom Johnson and The Gecko Project, and OC’s very own Dr. Anne Russon for her extensive studies on the cognition and behavior of Bornean Orangutans!
There will also be a special award given to global orangutan expert, Leif Cocks.
This event will be held in Culver City, CA at Playa Studios. There will be live music, and a live and silent auction that will directly contribute to orangutan conservation.
