Please allow me to introduce myself (though some of you may know me!).  I am Dr. Raffaella Commitante, Orangutan Conservancy Board member, and the founder of the annual OC/OVAG Veterinary Workshops

I am writing today to let you know that this summer I will be leading two exciting eight-day Bornean cruises aboard the luxurious Katharina schooner for SeaTrek Sailing Adventures.  The June excursions are for those who love orangutans and want to learn much more about Asia’s sole great ape and the beautiful island that they call home.  SeaTrek is highly responsible and sensitive to keeping the natural environment pristine.

I would like to personally invite you to join me on this once-in-a-lifetime adventure.  And we know you’ll be pleased to learn that a portion of the cruise costs will be donated to the Orangutan Conservancy.

The Mighty Orangutans of Borneo cruise promises to be an educational and fun journey and you will be pampered on a beautiful schooner as we visit two important orangutan projects: Samboja Lestari BOS Rehabilitation Center and the Orangutan Kutai Project that is run by OC’s own Dr. Anne Russon in Kutai National Park.

Along with wild orangutans we also hope to see numerous other species in their natural habitat such as proboscis monkeys, gibbons, and even giant turtles when we sail through the magnificent Derawan Archipelago.  It will be wonderful and I will be giving talks along the way!

I am excited to share this special time with you and invite you to look at SeaTrek’s website to see all of the details for the trip.  There will be two departure dates:  June 5 and June 14.  Please contact me at [email protected] or SeaTrek at [email protected] if you have any questions.

I hope you will join me onboard the Katharina this summer!

Raffaella

PS, If you do contact SeaTrek to inquire about the trip, please let them know you were sent this special invite from the Orangutan Conservancy.
