Members will receive our annual
newsletter "Voices in the Wilderness." As we believe in the conservation of
resources such as paper and ink, we want to keep mailings to a minimum.
We encourage our members to share their e-mail addresses with us so that we may
send quarterly updates electronically, and we hope you will visit our website regularly
for news about orangutans. The Orangutan Conservancy will not distribute your email address
to any other organization or individual. Your donation is important to the conservation of
orangutans — we strive to keep administrative costs to a bare
minimum, so that your donations get into the field to
protect orangutans and their habitat.
The Orangutan Conservancy is a nonprofit organization,
incorporated in the State of Colorado on May 14, 1998; members are non-voting.
We work closely with the Balikpapan Orangutan Survival Foundation in
Indonesia, but we operate as an independent organization with the stated
purposes:
- to help fund a variety of orangutan
conservation projects on Borneo and Sumatra (including support for the
Wanariset Orangutan Reintroduction Center and for habitat protection
programs);
- to provide emergency funding for
critical protection needs such as fire-fighting: and,
- to improve public awareness about
the plight of the orangutans and their habitat.
